Care for unfinished tops

Unfinished tops need oiling before use. Three coats of food-safe mineral oil or a hardwax oil, 6–8 hours apart, then re-oil every 4–6 weeks for the first year and twice a year after that.

Wipe spills promptly, never leave standing water, and use a board for cutting. Sand out a scorch or a deep scratch with 180 grit and re-oil that patch — it is solid wood the whole way down.
